Description

  • Manage, hire, and develop a team of engineers working on Metrics products.
  • Provide regular feedback and support individual career growth through ongoing career conversations.
  • Act as project manager and work with product owners to keep the product roadmap defined and up to date.
  • Remove blockers and impediments to help engineers work effectively.
  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration and improve team working practices.
  • Engage in technical discussions and help teams make strong technical decisions.
  • Support engineers who work with a high degree of autonomy across technical and product decisions.
  • Interact with customers occasionally, especially large companies using Mimir for operations monitoring.
  • Stay current on technical trends to better understand and address team challenges.
  • Help grow and develop the Databases Metrics teams and ensure high performance.

Requirements

  • Experience managing and coaching engineers, including senior engineers.
  • Technical background sufficient to lead a highly technical team and product.
  • Experience working in or around engineering before moving into management, or equivalent Computer Science degree.
  • Ability to work comfortably in a fully remote environment across time zones and cultures.
  • Strong communication skills with an empathetic, trust-building approach.
  • Experience leading initiatives or small teams and driving projects to successful outcomes.
  • Ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and improve team performance.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, production-readiness, and observability.
  • Conceptual familiarity with Kubernetes and Helm, and knowledge of distributed systems is valued.
  • Comfort with AI-assisted tooling and ideally practical experience using AI-powered tools in team workflows.
  • Ability to work in one of the eligible locations: Germany, Sweden, Spain, Ireland, or the UK.

  • Base salary range in Germany: EUR 109,000 to EUR 137,000.
