Description

  • Influence the squad roadmap and set your own career objectives in collaboration with the team
  • Design, build, iterate on, and deliver new features from initial idea through production operations
  • Build, operate, and maintain critical ingestion systems, owning their reliability, performance, and availability
  • Optimize the efficiency and resilience of metric processing, storage, and query pipelines in a distributed system
  • Contribute to and maintain open-source projects related to Mimir and surrounding telemetry components
  • Write and review pull requests and design documents, and shepherd automated release rollouts
  • Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations and take operational ownership of services you run
  • Support teammates, participate in design discussions, and incorporate production-driven performance and reliability improvements

Requirements

  • Motivated self-starter with a bias toward action and customer-focused mindset
  • Strong communication and remote collaboration skills with good time management
  • Some experience using LLMs/AI tools for day-to-day coding tasks and understanding codebases
  • Experience with at least one programming language (Go preferred; Python, C, C++, Rust or similar translate well)
  • Experience delivering projects as part of a larger team, from requirements gathering to shipping features
  • Some experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or experience in systems engineering
  • Some experience being on-call and following a DevOps model
  • Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is maintainable by others
  • Some familiarity with observability systems and when to use metrics, logs, and traces to debug issues
  • Bonus: experience with Kubernetes; queue systems (e.g., Kafka); being a Grafana/Prometheus user in operational roles; exposure to microservices/distributed systems; familiarity with infrastructure as code
