Description

  • Conduct power calculations and set up pre-specified A/B test designs, including experimental groups, outcomes, and measurement timelines.
  • Manage 2–3 live experiments at a time and coordinate implementation with Programs and Product teams.
  • Review experiment setups before launch and identify execution, measurement, and interpretability risks.
  • Collaborate with external principal investigators and internal teams to align research design, data collection, and program delivery.
  • Prepare clean, structured datasets from survey, administrative, and product data for analysis.
  • Monitor data quality and flag missingness, inconsistencies, measurement error, and other threats to validity.
  • Analyze experimental results, assess effect size and direction, and communicate limitations.
  • Translate findings into actionable recommendations for country programs, product decisions, and broader program strategy.
  • Produce memos, summaries, de-identified datasets, and documentation for internal teams and external academic partners.
  • Share cross-country learnings and maintain records that enable future experiments and program improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, or a related quantitative field.
  • 2–4 years of experience using data in applied experimentation, evaluation, analytics, or program-learning settings.
  • Understanding of experimental design and causal inference, including randomization, treatment and control groups, statistical power, bias, and units of randomization.
  • Experience using R, Python, or Stata to clean, manipulate, and analyze data from multiple sources.
  • Experience working with survey, administrative, or product data.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners on project implementation.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, work effectively with imperfect data, and iterate quickly.
  • Ability to communicate decision-ready insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must overlap with an East Africa timezone by at least 3 hours; regular East Africa travel of up to 25% is required.
