Description

  • Lead technical discovery, product demos, and validation exercises to demonstrate how GitLab meets customer needs across the software development lifecycle.
  • Own the technical evaluation process, including solution design, proofs of concept or value, workshop design, tenders, audits, and value stream assessments.
  • Partner with Account Executives and regional sales teams in Japan to shape and execute account strategies for new business and expansion.
  • Build trusted relationships with technical practitioners and business leaders and guide them through GitLab-led digital transformation.
  • Advise customers on modern software development, CI/CD, security, cloud practices, and return-on-investment improvements.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing by sharing feedback, use cases, and competitive insights.
  • Maintain and expand technical expertise in GitLab, DevSecOps, AI, and cloud technologies, and create reusable technical collateral.
  • Invest in ongoing learning, mentorship, and knowledge sharing to strengthen the Solutions Architect team.

Requirements

  • Experience in technical pre-sales, consulting, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
  • Proficiency with the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including DevSecOps and CI/CD workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with GitLab or comparable source control, CI/CD, and collaboration platforms.
  • Practical knowledge of cloud computing concepts and related deployment, security, and operations considerations.
  • Experience leading technical evaluations such as proofs of concept or proofs of value.
  • Experience contributing to tenders, audits, workshops, or value stream assessments.
  • Clear technical communication and presentation skills for both practitioners and senior decision makers.
  • Ability to build trusted customer relationships, listen with empathy, and advocate internally for customers.
  • Motivation to continuously learn new technologies and deepen platform expertise.
  • Experience in Japan-focused sales or customer engagement contexts is implied by the role focus (preferred).
