Description

  • Design, implement, and test APIs for new products, features, and services.
  • Maintain and optimize existing systems, with a focus on database performance.
  • Collaborate with engineers across the stack and with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver initiatives.
  • Keep current on new technologies and industry best practices, and encourage adoption within the engineering team.
  • Serve as the on-call engineer about one week per month and triage issues outside working hours.
  • Build core services, data pipelines, business systems, developer operations, and customer-facing features across the product surface.
  • Support scalability and infrastructure needs for user and trainer experiences.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of production development experience, specifically in backend or API development.
  • Strong knowledge of Go, AWS, Docker (ECS), and Postgres (RDS).
  • Proven ability to use software quality measures such as unit testing, integration testing, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Experience managing Docker-based microservice architecture.
  • Experience working in a fast-moving startup environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong product thinking and focus on end-user experience.
  • Scrappy and pragmatic approach to balancing engineering excellence with velocity.
  • Nice to have: experience working with ETL.
  • Nice to have: strong intuition for optimized database performance.
