Description

  • Act as the electrical subject matter expert across grid, solar, BESS, and data centre projects.
  • Produce and own electrical designs across the portfolio.
  • Deliver detailed design for substations, transformers, switchgear, protection, and power distribution.
  • Develop design packages from concept through detailed design, including single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, protection schemes, cable sizing, and earthing and bonding.
  • Support grid connection works for export and demand connections and ensure compliance with AEMO, DNSP, and AS/NZS requirements.
  • Validate or produce supporting studies such as fault level, load flow, protection coordination, and harmonics studies.
  • Align design intent with procurement and construction, and resolve technical queries through development, delivery, and handover.
  • Support and witness testing, energisation, and commissioning of substations, protection, and standby/UPS systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues during commissioning and ensure as-built documentation matches approved designs.
  • Support technical due diligence and lender advisory, and provide engineering assurance across electrical deliverables.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of electrical engineering experience in power, utilities, renewables, or critical infrastructure.
  • Strong preference for substantial high-voltage experience in the Australian market.
  • Proven design background with experience producing and owning electrical designs.
  • Strong infrastructure delivery experience across utility-scale solar, BESS, or grid-connected assets in Australia.
  • Deep understanding of substations, protection, and power distribution design for generation and demand systems.
  • Working knowledge of Australian grid standards, including AEMO technical requirements, DNSP connection standards, the National Electricity Rules, and AS/NZS electrical standards.
  • Ability to interpret electrical studies such as fault level, load flow, protection coordination, and harmonics.
  • Commissioning, testing, and energisation experience on high-voltage infrastructure in Australia.
  • Strong ability to review consultant and subcontractor designs critically.
  • Knowledge of Australian safety frameworks, including the Electricity Safety Act, state-based licensing requirements, and relevant codes of practice.
