Description

  • Provide direct patient care focused on evidence-based obesity treatment and chronic weight management.
  • Co-manage a shared patient panel with APP colleagues rather than maintaining a primary panel of their own.
  • Review charts and conduct every third return visit for APP patients to support continuity and quality of care.
  • Provide treatment planning and medical management support for complex cases and escalated clinical concerns.
  • Prescribe non-controlled obesity medications for patients under direct care and in coordination with APPs.
  • Hold weekly 30-minute collaborative meetings and 30 minutes of asynchronous communication time with each assigned APP to review cases and provide mentorship.
  • Ensure clinical documentation, protocols, and treatment pathways are followed consistently across the team.
  • Support APP professional development through feedback, clinical guidance, and continuing education.
  • Participate in team-based care initiatives, departmental meetings, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered culture within the obesity medicine program.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree.
  • Board certified and a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).
  • Minimum of 5 years as an attending physician in a primary specialty.
  • Licensed to practice and prescribe legally in New York.
  • Current or prior credentialing with insurance payers.
  • Strong preference for multiple state licenses.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong interest in mentoring, teaching, and collaborating with APPs.
  • Experience working with APPs, medical residents, or trainees in a clinical academic setting.
  • Commitment to evidence-based obesity treatment, behavioral interventions, nutrition, and pharmacotherapy.
  • Commitment to patient-centered, culturally competent, multidisciplinary care.
