Description

  • Represent the community day to day in developer spaces such as GitHub, Reddit, and technical forums with credible, technical contributions.
  • Rebuild community engagement from a broadcast model into active peer-to-peer participation.
  • Seed discussions and recruit community leaders who encourage developers to teach and support each other.
  • Encourage internal engineers and technical team members to share knowledge, updates, and resources in the community.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with strong open-source and hackathon-active developers.
  • Assess community members for potential fit in the talent pipeline and manage those conversations discreetly.
  • Plan and run one to two high-quality hackathons per year.
  • Shape the community’s public presence and define needs for supporting marketing execution.
  • Introduce the company’s tech stacks to the community in a credible, non-salesy way and gather developer feedback.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of hands-on coding experience.
  • Established standing in open-source or other developer communities through contributions, hackathons, or active participation.
  • Experience organizing or leading a developer community, meetup, local chapter, open-source project, or online community.
  • Fluency in developer documentation and how experienced engineers communicate and work.
  • A trusted reputation among developers as one of their own, not someone perceived as corporate or extractive.
  • Comfort working with significant autonomy and ambiguity in a loosely defined role.
  • Experience in a formal developer relations, dev advocate, or community lead role at a technical company.
  • Participation in a formal community leader program or similar organizer-level standing in a developer ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with how developer relations functions at scale and strong connections within developer relations circles.
