Description

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data scientists, including setting expectations, giving feedback, and supporting career growth.
  • Own the quality of data science delivery so research becomes production-ready, well-documented systems.
  • Partner with Product to define research priorities and with Engineering to ensure models integrate cleanly into production.
  • Stay hands-on with complex modeling and research work when senior technical judgment is needed.
  • Build and improve experimentation standards, methodology reviews, documentation practices, and model handoff workflows.
  • Unblock the team when projects stall and keep work moving in a fast-changing environment.
  • Design and refine team processes and practices as the company scales.
  • Ensure data science work directly supports product decisions and customer-facing outcomes.

Requirements

  • Experience leading and developing data scientists, including coaching, performance feedback, and career progression.
  • Expert-level knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning, and GenAI techniques.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with deep fluency in Pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn.
  • Experience shipping models to production and understanding how to make research work reliably at scale.
  • Track record of designing evaluation frameworks, monitoring systems, and logging strategies for production models.
  • Ability to scope ambiguous problems, prioritize effectively, and keep a team aligned in a fast-moving environment.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to translate between data science, product, and engineering.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
  • Belief in quality, reproducibility, and rigor as essential to building trust in data science.
