Description

  • Develop price elasticity curves to forecast the impact of pricing changes on retention, conversion, and customer lifetime value.
  • Forecast policyholder retention and conversion based on pricing, operational changes, and business initiatives.
  • Improve rating plan risk segmentation by developing GLM-based rating factors and applying advanced predictive modeling techniques.
  • Build and maintain performance monitoring tools for rating plans and rate levels, including loss ratio, conversion rate, churn, and lifetime value.
  • Write advanced SQL procedures to extract and analyze data from large, line-item veterinary bill databases.
  • Estimate the pricing impact of coverage and product changes.
  • Analyze new product proposals for pricing viability, enterprise risk, competitive positioning, and customer value.
  • Support rate filings, rate indications, and responses to regulatory objections.
  • Review competitor filings to understand market positioning and pricing.
  • Collaborate with product, underwriting, marketing, BI, and IT teams and present actuarial findings to non-actuarial audiences.

Requirements

  • ACAS designation required, or ASA working in health insurance.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an actuarial or data science role in P&C and/or health insurance.
  • At least 2 years of experience in actuarial ratemaking and/or pricing modeling.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL is required.
  • Strong knowledge of R and/or Python is required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of generalized linear models (GLMs) is required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of elastic net GLMs, k-means clustering, and geospatial statistics is desirable.
  • Ability to review data for quality, completeness, and reasonability is required.
  • Experience performing competitor filing research in SERFF is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Gemini.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
