Description

  • Own the data warehouse and reporting layer, including how data is modeled, evolved, and exposed.
  • Write SQL and dbt models, refactor transformations, and build tables and views used by downstream teams.
  • Partner with product engineering, architecture, analytics, and business stakeholders to understand data usage and identify gaps.
  • Work with DevX and architecture teams on the boundary between product services and Snowflake, including automating schema propagation.
  • Build models, tests, and processes that protect pipelines from malformed data and upstream changes.
  • Instrument owned systems, define SLOs and data quality checks, and participate in the rotating on-call schedule.
  • Own and extend Python data jobs running on Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions for third-party data ingestion and downstream data delivery.
  • Pair with junior engineers, raise the bar on PR and architecture reviews, and define team patterns and standards.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or a related field at a Principal or equivalent level.
  • Deep expertise in relational database architecture and data modeling.
  • Expert-level experience with Snowflake and SQL, including owning a warehouse at scale.
  • Strong analytics engineering experience, ideally with dbt.
  • Hands-on Python experience building data jobs on AWS Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions.
  • Experience managing AWS infrastructure with AWS CDK.
  • Experience integrating with third-party APIs in both directions, including rate limits, retries, authentication, and idempotency.
  • Track record of building observable and reliable data systems.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and mentorship with strong communication, systems thinking, and cross-functional stakeholder management.
