Description

  • Conduct secondary research and update market databases for multiple industries, including packaged foods and pet foods.
  • Perform primary research interviews with industry contacts across the value chain, including manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, associations, and government stakeholders.
  • Recruit and secure relevant interview contacts through proactive outreach and networking.
  • Analyze large volumes of market data and qualitative information using Microsoft Excel.
  • Estimate market data from quantitative and qualitative insights when direct data is limited.
  • Perform retail audits of major retailers and stores across Cameroon.
  • Build and maintain a digital library of secondary research sources, including trade press, annual reports, statistics, and broker reports.
  • Generate written reports and presentations in English using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

Requirements

  • Self-employed contract work only, with availability to work remotely from anywhere in Cameroon.
  • High level of numeracy with the ability to work with, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Strong interest in market research and persistence in gathering information.
  • Curiosity about the food and nutrition industry, especially packaged and fresh food retail sales, food packaging, and pet food.
  • Local knowledge of Cameroon consumer trends and direct market familiarity.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build industry contacts.
  • Fluency in English for reporting and a local language for research.
  • Previous experience in short-term contract or freelance work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project scope and start dates.
  • Willingness to visit local stores and speak with staff about product and industry information.
  • Food and nutrition experience is an advantage.
