Description

  • Lead technical direction across multiple teams and services, shaping high-level architecture for scalable and resilient systems.
  • Stay hands-on by contributing to key codebases, building prototypes, and validating architectural decisions through experimentation.
  • Champion AI-first engineering adoption across the organisation, including agentic development practices and AI-powered workflows.
  • Evaluate AI coding agents and establish patterns for agent-directed development and context engineering.
  • Ensure AI integration meets engineering standards for testing, reliability, and security.
  • Solve complex technical challenges in distributed systems with attention to scale, performance, and maintainability.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to align technical decisions with business strategy and customer value.
  • Elevate engineering standards by leading design reviews, sharing best practices, and establishing consistent principles and golden paths.
  • Mentor and support Lead Engineers and senior developers through coaching and collaboration.
  • Drive cross-team initiatives and complex projects to deliver cohesive systems at scale.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience, typically 15+ years, leading and delivering large-scale web applications.
  • Proven experience managing complex, cross-team projects from design through release.
  • Demonstrated experience with AI-assisted engineering workflows.
  • Active use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of how to adopt AI coding agents at an organisational level.
  • Experience with multi-agent or swarm orchestration development approaches.
  • Strong commercial sense with the ability to balance technical decisions against business outcomes.
  • Ability to solve ambiguous, large-scale technical problems using data-informed, objective analysis.
  • Experience mentoring and growing the technical skills of senior and lead-level engineers.
