Description

  • Monitor, maintain, support, and optimize assigned operating systems to ensure stability and efficient operation.
  • Manage z/VM systems across software, availability, networking, capacity and performance, storage, directory, and security.
  • Support storage management, system backup and restore, tape encryption, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Participate in incident and change management processes.
  • Provide metrics tracking for operational performance and service quality.
  • Assist Data Center Operations in meeting SLAs.
  • Coordinate system modifications with IT and business unit managers.
  • Support multiple annual disaster recovery exercises across diverse client environments.
  • Work in a collaborative multi-client environment.
  • Mentor junior team members across areas of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to upgrade and maintain z/VM using VMSES.
  • Experience installing and administering z/VM-related ISV products, such as CA-VM:Manager.
  • Ability to provision and manage virtual machines by manually manipulating the VM directory or using tools such as VM:Secure or DirMaint.
  • System network design and configuration at the operating system level, including OSA, TCP/IP, and VSWITCH.
  • Experience with OSA-ICC, RSCS, and VTAM is helpful.
  • Working knowledge of managing z/VM security with VM:Secure and RACF is preferred.
  • z/VM performance and capacity tuning and reporting experience is preferred.
  • Experience with installation and implementation of SSI (Single System Image) is desired.
  • Experience with storage administration, DFSMS/VM, and virtual tape is helpful.
  • Experience supporting z/VM workloads for Linux on IBM Z, VSE and z/VSE, CMS, and z/OS.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Velocity Performance Suite (zVPS, zPRO, zVRM), Broadcom/CA VM:Manager and composite products, IBM Dirmaint, and IBM RACF is preferred.
