Description

  • Provide 24x7 production support for mainframe applications and resolve P1–P4 incidents within agreed SLAs.
  • Serve as the AMS Level 3 escalation point for complex incidents, problems, and application failures.
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive permanent fixes to prevent recurring issues.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot mainframe applications, including COBOL batch and online programs in CICS and IMS DC.
  • Execute application change requests, enhancements, and break-fix remediation within change management controls.
  • Lead COBOL upgrade activities from VS COBOL through IBM COBOL V6, including code retrofit, unit testing, system testing, and integration testing.
  • Manage application database maintenance across DB2, IMS DB, and VSAM file structures.
  • Support DevOps on Z activities, including static code analysis, automated testing, regression testing, and deployment to test, staging, and production environments.
  • Use GitHub with IBM DBB or GitHub with Endevor for source code management and enforce quality gates.
  • Lead knowledge transfer activities during onboarding and client transition, and mentor junior engineers to support team capability and knowledge retention.

Requirements

  • Advanced COBOL programming experience with IBM Enterprise COBOL V4–V6 in batch and online environments.
  • Experience with CICS transaction processing, including design, development, debugging, and tuning.
  • Strong JCL authoring and optimization skills, including batch scheduling concepts.
  • DB2 experience covering SQL development, application DBA tasks, and query optimization.
  • Experience with IMS DB/DC and VSAM file design, management, and performance tuning.
  • Working knowledge of z/OS sufficient to interpret system logs, dumps, and SMF data for troubleshooting.
  • Experience with modern source control and build tools such as GitHub and IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB).
  • Familiarity with modern IDEs and automated testing tools for mainframe environments, such as IBM Wazi Developer, VS Code extensions for Z, IBM Developer for z/OS, or Topaz.
  • Assembler knowledge is desirable but not mandatory at the application level.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in mainframe application development, support, and maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Netron Framework.
