Description

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll operations, compliance, and transformation for the Americas region, including the U.S. and Canada.
  • Serve as the technical payroll regulatory expert for statutory requirements, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable payroll processes, controls, and infrastructure for current and future operations.
  • Drive payroll system configuration, integration, and reporting customization across payroll and HR platforms.
  • Lead automation and optimization initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Establish quality oversight frameworks with metrics and KPIs to measure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Manage business process design and documentation to ensure standardization and scalability across regions.
  • Lead system evaluations, implementations, and vendor management activities within the Americas region.
  • Collaborate with the India-based payroll team across time zones and provide guidance, training, and oversight.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, IT, and external vendors to resolve payroll issues and ensure seamless execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 5+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Deep technical expertise in U.S. payroll regulations, tax compliance, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Experience in fast-paced, ambiguous, high-growth environments where foundational processes are still being built.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll and HR system configuration, workflow design, integration development, and custom reporting.
  • Experience with automation and optimization tools or approaches such as RPA, RDA, AI/ML, Microsoft Power Automate, or API integrations.
  • Demonstrated experience building quality frameworks with measurable metrics such as accuracy rates, SLA compliance, error reduction, and cycle-time improvements.
  • Strong business process management skills, including process mapping, standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven success leading system implementations, vendor evaluations, and supplier management projects.
  • Experience working across multiple time zones and collaborating with geographically distributed teams.
  • Proficiency with payroll, finance, and HR systems such as ADP, SAP, BambooHR, or similar enterprise HRIS platforms.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.
  • Professional certification such as CPP is preferred.
  • Advanced degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement certification is preferred.
  • Understanding of payroll governance, audit, and control frameworks such as SOX, COSO, or ISO is preferred.
  • Experience with Canadian and South American payroll regulations is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, including experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI, are preferred.
  • Project management certification such as PMP or Agile, or equivalent project management experience, is preferred.
  • Experience designing shared service or center of excellence operating models is preferred.
  • Knowledge of change management principles and experience leading transformation initiatives is preferred.

  • Base salary range of $105,000 to $140,000 per year.
