Description

  • Design and develop tooling that supports building, testing, and shipping the Elastic Stack.
  • Build and operate production services that power key parts of the Elastic business, including downloads, Docker registry, and maps services.
  • Support internal adoption of the Elastic Stack for software development and analytics use cases.
  • Manage CI pipelines, cloud resources, and cross-team integrations that underpin the product stack.
  • Act as an internal software consultant by applying Elastic products to internal business needs.
  • Automate and collaborate on production system configuration using infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Monitor, maintain, and keep infrastructure and services running reliably in production.

Requirements

  • Deep proficiency in at least one programming language, with a broad software development background.
  • Experience in site reliability engineering or a similar operations-focused role.
  • Multiple years of hands-on experience administering Linux systems, ideally at scale and in distributed environments.
  • Experience helping operate a SaaS platform is a plus.
  • Comfort working with infrastructure-as-code and version-controlled configuration.
  • Experience with tools such as Docker, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt, Packer, Kubernetes, or shell scripting.
  • Strong Linux fundamentals, including familiarity with syscall tracing, TCP internals, and init systems such as sysvinit, runit, or systemd.
  • Experience with a Git-based workflow driven by issues and pull requests is preferred.
  • Experience building reusable software components or contributing to open source is a bonus.
  • Ability to thrive in a distributed, asynchronous work environment with strong written communication habits.

  • Base salary with no variable compensation component.
  • Typical starting salary range of $130,900 to $192,600 USD.
  • Typical starting salary range of $148,200 to $210,700 USD in select locations, including Seattle, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City Metro Area.
