Description

  • Set the analytical vision and roadmap for User Growth data science.
  • Lead and grow a team of 6 to 10 data scientists across seniority levels.
  • Coach, develop, and manage data scientists while hiring new talent over time.
  • Own product data science, forecasting, and business intelligence for User Growth.
  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments and analyses for acquisition, activation, retention, and reengagement.
  • Develop and maintain user growth forecasting systems in partnership with Finance and Product.
  • Drive the metrics layer, self-serve dashboards, and analytical infrastructure for Growth.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear narratives for senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, Marketing, and Finance on product development and strategy.
  • Support embedded data scientists within product teams while maintaining function cohesion.

Requirements

  • Experience using data science and analytics to solve product and business problems.
  • Experience managing data science teams of 5+ people.
  • A graduate degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
  • Applied industry experience with causal inference, experimentation, and/or machine learning models.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and grow a high-performing data science team.
  • Strong command of SQL, Python or R, and data/analytics engineering ecosystems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience at a high-growth, data-intensive consumer technology company (preferred).
  • Experience building forecasting systems or attribution models at scale (preferred).
  • Experience with AI and machine learning for user behavior modeling, notification optimization, or personalization (preferred).
  • Experience navigating the transition from growth-stage to scaled public company (preferred).
  • An impressive Duolingo streak (preferred).

Benefits

  • Base salary of $204,000 to $306,000 USD.
  • Equity compensation in addition to base salary.
