Description

  • Define company data assets, including data models, and build Spark and SparkSQL jobs to populate them.
  • Design data integrations, data quality frameworks, and evaluate open-source or vendor tools for data lineage.
  • Work with Dropbox business units and engineering teams to shape long-term data platform architecture that is efficient, reliable, and scalable.
  • Own the data architecture for multiple large-scale projects and evaluate design and operational cost-benefit tradeoffs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs and present data insights effectively.
  • Design, build, and launch sophisticated data models and visualizations for multiple products and domains.
  • Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to improve the development of data artifacts.
  • Participate in on-call rotations when assigned to the team, including availability during core and non-core business hours.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience developing with Spark, Python, Java, C++, or Scala.
  • 5+ years of SQL experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with schema design, dimensional data modeling, and medallion architectures.
  • Experience with the Databricks platform and data lake architectures for large-scale data processing and analytics.
  • Strong product strategy thinking and communication skills to influence product and cross-functional teams.
  • BS in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems.
  • Preferred: 7+ years of SQL experience.
  • Preferred: 7+ years of experience with schema design, dimensional data modeling, and medallion architectures.
  • Preferred: Experience with Airflow or similar orchestration frameworks.
  • Preferred: Experience building data quality monitoring using MonteCarlo or similar tools.

Benefits

  • US Zone 2 salary range: $149,200 to $201,800 USD.
  • US Zone 3 salary range: $132,600 to $179,400 USD.

  • On-call rotation details are provided for teams with service ownership, including core and non-core business hours.
