Description

  • Personally handle complex sales and procurement deals and support company initiatives with cross-functional teams.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of complex commercial contracts with vendors, customers, and other business partners worldwide.
  • Partner with business teams to develop efficient, scalable approaches to commercial legal matters.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to implement strategies that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of commercial legal support.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and problem solver for key stakeholders across the company.
  • Develop and refine team playbooks, fallback guides, cross-functional resource documents, and training materials.
  • Support a wide variety of commercial transactions across sales, vendor procurement, marketing, M&A, real estate, and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate closely with internal business teams to deliver practical legal guidance aligned with company goals.

Requirements

  • 2+ years as a practicing commercial attorney with substantive experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including SaaS, licensing, technology, equipment, and marketing agreements.
  • Experience managing and interacting directly with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating contracts independently.
  • Ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, simple guidance and partner effectively across all levels of the company.
  • Passion for client service and operational efficiency.
  • High integrity, strong ethics, and an unflappable demeanor.
  • Self-starter with eagerness to learn substantive law, negotiation skills, and team policies and procedures.
  • J.D. with strong academic credentials and a demonstrated record of success as a lawyer.
  • Member in good standing of the bar and, if applicable, in-house counsel registration.
  • Desire or experience working in a virtual-first environment with demonstrated initiative.
  • Preferred: 1+ year of in-house attorney experience at a technology company.
  • Preferred: Experience in a law firm setting as a commercial attorney.
  • Preferred: Ability to handle multiple cross-functional commercial matters, including customer-facing agreements, M&A integration and support, and commercial disputes.
  • Preferred: Expertise in data privacy law, AI rules and regulations, and intellectual property; CIPP certification is an example.
  • Preferred: Experience developing team playbooks, fallback guides, resource documents, and training materials.
  • Preferred: Experience partnering with globally distributed in-house business teams, particularly at SaaS companies, to handle high volumes of complex commercial transactions.
