Description

  • Collaborate across the company to continuously improve the product and drive innovation.
  • Actively contribute to the engineering team and work closely with other developers to deliver features and improvements.
  • Mentor and support other engineers to help them grow their technical and soft skills and to create a productive team environment.
  • Design, implement, and optimise parts of the event‑driven architecture to handle growing data volumes and workloads.
  • Complete migrations and component work (e.g., Phoenix Components) and polish existing and new product features.
  • Maintain observability and monitor product behaviour to detect and resolve issues quickly.
  • Participate in agile engineering practices including weekly planning, continuous delivery, TDD, pair programming, code reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Provide technical input and make technical decisions in product and architecture discussions while ensuring high standards of quality and security.

Requirements

  • Strong backend experience with Elixir or similar languages.
  • Some experience with frontend frameworks.
  • Desire to continuously learn and improve technical, communication, and other soft skills.
  • Experience working in small, collaborative teams and across functions.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to productive team practices.
  • Familiarity with agile practices such as continuous delivery, TDD, pair programming, code reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Interest in and commitment to software quality and security.
  • Ability to work in the same timezone as the rest of the team (flexible).
  • Knowledge or experience with event‑driven systems, APIs, message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ), databases (Postgres, Redis), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and Google Cloud is a plus.
  • Available to start ASAP; salary range £60,000–£80,000 dependent on experience.
