Description

  • Lead the end-to-end preparation and review cycle for business tax returns, including forms 5472, 1065, and 1120.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex tax cases and provide technical guidance to the team.
  • Coach and mentor team members on tax issues and client handling to build confidence and independence.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce SOPs and workflows, while identifying process improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of prepared returns and client communications for accuracy, professionalism, and compliance.
  • Support the Tax Manager with workload distribution and capacity planning to help ensure SLA adherence.
  • Monitor and report on team metrics, including SLA compliance, ticket volume, QA scores, completion status, and performance trends.
  • Manage client-facing tax inquiries and ensure inbox zero by the end of each business day.
  • Track extension filings and coordinate with clients to ensure complete and timely submissions.
  • Partner with Customer Success, Data, and Operations to resolve systemic issues and improve processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in business tax filing preparation, with mastery of forms 5472, 1065, and 1120.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Supervisor or Team Lead role.
  • Deep working knowledge of U.S. tax law and the ability to apply it to complex, non-standard scenarios.
  • Experience designing or enforcing SOPs, quality standards, and workflows in a tax or accounting environment.
  • Strong performance management skills, including KPI tracking, structured feedback, and accountability management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and high ticket volumes while maintaining quality and meeting SLAs.
  • Proficiency with ticketing and CRM systems, with HubSpot preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex tax guidance to clients and team members.
  • Availability to work a hybrid timezone schedule aligned to European business hours three days per week and U.S. mid-morning hours two days per week.
  • Bonus: Experience with HubSpot or comparable helpdesk/CRM platforms for case management and reporting.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with continuous improvement methods such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar.
  • Bonus: Experience improving client satisfaction and reducing churn in a service environment.
  • Bonus: Bookkeeping fluency or ability to cross-cover bookkeeping workflows when needed.
