Description

  • Deploy and harden UDS Data Capability in mission environments, including storage, transit, governance, and streaming components.
  • Integrate the platform with existing systems such as legacy databases, flat files, message buses, object storage, and identity providers.
  • Build data pipelines that move data across classification boundaries and handle ingestion, transformation, cataloging, packaging, and cross-domain transit.
  • Operate deployed systems through day-2 ownership activities such as capacity management, performance tuning, backup and restore, observability, incident response, and upgrade planning.
  • Generate accreditation and compliance artifacts such as STIG evidence, cATO documentation, FIPS validation notes, and policy mappings.
  • Bring field feedback back to product and engineering by filing issues, writing postmortems, and proposing operator improvements.
  • Train mission teams and transfer knowledge through runbooks, documentation, and working sessions.
  • Pair with and mentor junior Data Engineer FDEs on difficult problems and integration design reviews.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed for initial standup, SCIF integration, incident response, training, and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Active DoD security clearance is required, with TS/SCI preferred or at minimum active Secret and the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
  • Experience across lakehouse and storage technologies such as Apache Iceberg, Delta, Hudi, Ceph/S3-compatible object storage, Postgres, and pgvector.
  • Experience with streaming and integration tools such as Kafka, Strimzi, Flink, Debezium, and legacy system integration from Oracle, SQL Server, flat files, or SOAP.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Argo Workflows.
  • Experience with governance, catalog, and access patterns including Iceberg REST catalogs, ABAC/RBAC, OIDC/OAuth, lineage, and audit.
  • Strong SQL and data modeling skills for analytical and operational workloads.
  • Production experience with Kubernetes, Linux fundamentals, containers, networking, TLS, secrets management, IaC, and GitOps tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, Flux, or ArgoCD.
  • Comfort working in SCIFs and other restricted environments and traveling 10%-25% of the time.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, work self-directed, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Familiarity with the CNCF ecosystem and cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure is preferred.
