Description

  • Serve as the technical owner for the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML-powered features in Datadog Notebooks.
  • Define the long-term technical strategy and direction for AI workflows in Notebooks and related products.
  • Lead the full development cycle from rapid prototyping through success metrics, evaluation, experimentation, iteration, and production-scale reliability.
  • Drive product direction with a strong focus on end-user experience.
  • Partner with other leaders and product teams to enable AI-powered workflows built on Notebooks.
  • Develop agent systems with tools, retrieval and planning strategies, guardrails, prompt management, evaluations, fallbacks, and human-in-the-loop processes.
  • Stay current on industry trends and guide adoption of new technologies and best practices.
  • Mentor other engineers and help cultivate a high-performing engineering culture.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in a scientific field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience acting as a technical lead.
  • Proven track record leading large-scale AI/ML initiatives in a product-driven environment.
  • Significant experience in model deployment, development, training, fine-tuning, and evaluation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to drive initiatives end to end.
  • Passion for mentoring others and building a high-performing engineering culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools in day-to-day workflows and to validate, critique, and refine AI-generated output.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve software engineering practices and build AI-enabled products.
  • Preferred: background or interest in using AI tools to enhance coding and problem-solving workflows.
