Description

  • Co-develop Datadog’s next visual direction across representative product journeys.
  • Translate visual principles into decisions about hierarchy, layout, navigation, information architecture, interaction, and behavior.
  • Use visual language to clarify complex, data-dense experiences.
  • Maintain the visual quality bar across work beyond your direct ownership and align teams around it.
  • Prototype, test, and refine new patterns before they are systemized.
  • Partner with Product Design, Design Systems, and Engineering to turn concepts into durable system guidance and implementation.
  • Create artifacts, pilots, and narratives that help teams adopt the direction and raise product quality.
  • Influence stakeholders across design, engineering, product, and executive teams.
  • Report directly to the Design Director as part of a small team shaping the future state before broader rollout.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in product and/or visual design.
  • Strong hands-on craft and the ability to execute at a high bar.
  • Product-native perspective with understanding of how visual design and product design interact.
  • Ability to use visual language to clarify an experience and explain why a decision improves it.
  • Experience thinking in information architecture, hierarchy, and holistic system work.
  • Experience turning concepts into patterns that scale across a real product.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and within large, complex organizations.
  • Portfolio demonstrating shipped product surfaces with exceptional visual quality.
  • Ability to persuade and align designers, engineers, product partners, and executives.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
