Description

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with partner organizations, community members, leaders, allied organizations, and public sector workers using participatory research methods.
  • Lead one or more collaborative partnerships with anchor organizations for the co-creation and diffusion of AI Civics resources.
  • Co-develop and refine toolkits, facilitation guides, and training curricula through pilot testing, feedback collection, and revision cycles.
  • Produce case studies, educational materials, templates, reports, academic publications, lectures, and public writing related to the program.
  • Support co-design workshops, train-the-trainer sessions, and participatory research activities with the Program Director and partner organizations.
  • Develop research questions, program strategy, and new external partnerships in collaboration with the AI Civics Program Director.
  • Coordinate across internal teams to create public-facing program outputs.
  • Assist with communications to the partner network, including updates, event announcements, and follow-up summary notes and agreements.
  • Participate in fundraising efforts by helping with grant applications and drafting materials for the Development Team.
  • Contribute to organizational life by attending meetings, seminars, retreats, workshops, and other internal events.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree or equivalent required.
  • 7-10 years of experience in research organizations or research environments, including graduate work.
  • Expertise in one or more relevant sectors such as K-12 education, labor, faith groups, or another institutional pillar of civic life related to AI and data-centric technologies.
  • Expertise in participatory research methods and strong general research skills.
  • Strong track record of bringing research through to publication.
  • Public profile with ability to communicate effectively with non-academic audiences through writing and speaking.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytic, and writing skills, with familiarity with academic literature in the field.
  • Ability to coordinate and conduct in-depth qualitative research.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving organization.
  • Doctoral degree in information science, education, social sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • Established relationships with relevant organizations in education, labor, faith, advocacy, or similar sectors preferred.
  • Experience with civic engagement, organizing, program evaluation, design, policy, or public interest technology preferred.
  • Willingness to dedicate full-time effort to the AI Civics program for the duration of the role.
  • Must be living in and authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required before joining the organization.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $78,000 to $97,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
