Description

  • Design and implement scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks for web applications, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Define and execute integration and end-to-end test strategies and plans aligned to product and business requirements.
  • Identify high-risk areas, including sensitive or regulated data flows, and ensure appropriate test coverage and validation.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD workflows to improve deployment reliability and speed.
  • Partner with engineering teams to design systems for testability, observability, and maintainability.
  • Translate product, data, and business requirements into testable scenarios and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate with offshore QA teams to define scope, prioritize efforts, and validate results.
  • Establish and track quality metrics to drive continuous improvement and reduce production defects.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on quality engineering best practices across the team.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience in software engineering or SDET roles with production-grade test automation.
  • Strong programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience testing distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
  • Hands-on experience integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working with systems undergoing active migration or decomposition.
  • Demonstrated AI fluency using enterprise AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini in engineering workflows.
  • Strong judgment in reviewing AI-generated outputs and knowing where human oversight is required.
  • Experience with contract testing such as Pact across service boundaries, preferred.
  • Experience in HIPAA-regulated environments with PHI handling requirements, preferred.
  • Familiarity with saga patterns, Step Functions, or orchestration testing, preferred.
  • Experience with service-oriented or microservices architectures, preferred.
  • Experience coordinating manual QA, including offshore teams, preferred.
  • Familiarity with AWS-native tooling such as EventBridge, SQS, Lambda, and Step Functions, nice to have.
  • Experience testing e-commerce platforms, nice to have.
  • Exposure to subscription billing or payment processor integrations, nice to have.
  • Experience with observability tooling as part of a quality strategy, nice to have.
  • Familiarity with feature flag testing strategies such as LaunchDarkly, nice to have.
  • Exposure to mobile testing surfaces on iOS or Android in addition to web, nice to have.
  • Remote work location with Pacific Time Zone preferred.
