Description

  • Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS customer agreements for EMEA customers, including MSAs, Order Forms, DPAs, NDAs, and AI addendums.
  • Support deal structuring and commercial strategy for the enterprise sales pipeline across EMEA markets.
  • Partner with the Head of Legal and COO to build scalable legal processes, policies, and training for an international business.
  • Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, self-service resources, and process automation to improve legal team efficiency.
  • Advise the business on GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, NIS2, EU AI Act, and other applicable European and Middle Eastern privacy laws.
  • Advise product and engineering teams on privacy-by-design principles related to data collection and use.
  • Manage the EU/UK data protection compliance program, including ROPA maintenance, DPIAs, DSARs, and cookie/tracking compliance.
  • Monitor emerging AI regulatory developments across the EU and UK and guide leadership on impacts to products and commercial operations.
  • Track legislative and regulatory developments across key European markets that may affect products, sustainability practices, data practices, or commercial operations.
  • Support the company's EU/UK employment law needs.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Law degree from an accredited institution in the EU, US, or UK.
  • Qualified to practice law in at least one EU member state, the US, or the UK.
  • 5-10 years of legal experience, with meaningful time spent on European data protection and commercial technology transactions (preferred).
  • Experience serving as in-house counsel, ideally at a technology or SaaS company.
  • Familiarity with AI products and related legal and contracting issues.
  • Strong negotiator who can balance legal risk with commercial objectives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a remote-first environment.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating enterprise SaaS agreements.
  • Strong working knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR, and the ePrivacy Directive.
  • Hands-on experience running privacy programs, including international data transfers, ROPAs, DSARs, incident response planning, and DPIAs.
  • CIPP/E certification or equivalent data protection qualification.
  • Proficiency in at least one additional European language.
  • Experience in a high-growth startup environment, working on a lean legal team.
