Description

  • Review student transcripts, curricula, and academic profiles to build individualized admissions plans.
  • Guide families through every step of the college application process, from planning to submission.
  • Advise on course selection, extracurricular activities, internships, summer programs, and academic exploration.
  • Develop application strategies for Early Decision, Restrictive Early Action, Early Action, and Regular Decision rounds.
  • Help students craft compelling application narratives and differentiate their profiles for selective schools.
  • Research colleges, academic programs, course catalogs, and admissions trends to provide informed recommendations.
  • Support students applying to transfer, private/boarding school, and specialized academic programs.
  • Advise on financial aid, scholarships, and other aid options as part of the admissions process.
  • Collaborate with families and students to set goals and ensure timely, polished application submissions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an admissions officer or reader at a selective college, or equivalent experience as a high school counselor, independent counselor, or college counseling professional.
  • Thorough understanding of high school curricula, AP, IB, ACT, SAT, and other standardized tests.
  • Experience working with students in grades 7-12, transfer applicants, and private/boarding school applicants.
  • Proven track record of student success across a range of academic programs, including specialized paths such as pre-med and engineering.
  • Experience with athletic recruitment and other specialized admissions endeavors.
  • Strong writing skills and deep knowledge of the current college admissions landscape.
  • Expertise with public, private, charter, and boarding school environments.
  • Expert knowledge of Naviance, Scoir, Common App, Coalition App, Apply Texas, and school-specific application platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of the college admissions process, academic environments, financial aid, scholarships, and related resources.
  • Ability to create individualized academic and extracurricular plans for high school students.
  • Familiarity with academic competitions and programs such as DECA, Science/Math Olympiads, AMC, Science Fairs, and STEM competitions.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills for guiding families and mentoring students.
  • Proficiency with technology and a strong ability to work with high autonomy in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Patient, passionate, versatile, and dedicated mindset focused on helping students succeed.
  • M.Ed. or Ph.D. in education is preferred.
