Description

  • Own the annual budget and rolling forecasts for the R&D organization, including headcount, contractor spend, software and tooling, and allocated infrastructure costs.
  • Serve as the day-to-day finance partner to R&D by answering budget questions, modeling scenarios, and supporting leadership decisions.
  • Build business case models for R&D investments, new product development, platform initiatives, and major capability builds.
  • Model investment tradeoffs and track the performance of approved investments against original business cases.
  • Support growth and profitability target-setting by modeling how R&D investment levels affect product timelines and downstream revenue potential.
  • Own cloud hosting cost reporting and forecasting across product lines, including actuals, budget tracking, and forward-looking usage models.
  • Identify cloud cost optimization opportunities and partner with engineering on the financial implications of architectural decisions.
  • Build and maintain product-level P&L models covering ARR, recognized revenue, gross margin, and related R&D and GTM investment.
  • Contribute product line P&L, ARR, and pipeline performance analysis to executive and board-level reporting.
  • Surface financial risks and opportunities across product investment and GTM performance, and provide recommendations to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a closely related analytical role in a SaaS or technology company.
  • Experience supporting R&D and GTM finance is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, headcount modeling, and variance analysis, preferably in R&D cost structures.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure economics and building cost models for cloud hosting portfolios.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS revenue metrics including ARR, NRR, pipeline velocity, close rates, gross margin, CAC, and LTV.
  • Experience building and owning product-level P&L models, including revenue, COGS, gross margin, and investment allocation.
  • Comfort using AI tools in day-to-day workflow for modeling, research, data analysis, or drafting, with strong judgment to validate outputs.
  • Proven ability to work with incomplete data, evolving definitions, or maturing infrastructure while still producing credible analysis.
  • Clear and confident communication skills for translating complex financial analysis into narratives for non-finance audiences.
  • Proactive business partnering style with the ability to engage stakeholders early and bring recommendations.
  • Experience with SaaS product portfolio reporting and executive/board-level financial reporting is implied by the role context.
