Description

  • Architect and develop distributed systems.
  • Provide technical direction to teams and work with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps.
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Mentor and train other engineers on design techniques and coding standards.
  • Design and implement foundational infrastructure components used by engineering teams in production.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code for customer-facing needs.
  • Rapidly launch, iterate, and optimize features and products to drive growth.
  • Build resilient and scalable systems that support faster feature development and iteration.
  • Work across web, mobile, backend, data, and machine learning systems.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
  • Passion for building an open financial system and supporting Coinbase’s mission.
  • Experience in a rapidly scaling engineering environment (preferred).
  • Experience with blockchains such as Bitcoin or Ethereum (preferred).
  • Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices (preferred).
  • Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, and Postgres (preferred).
  • Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security systems (preferred).
  • Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, or engaging with dApps (preferred).

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of $218,025–$256,500 USD, depending on location.
  • Annual base salary range of $217,900 CAD, depending on location.
  • Total compensation may include equity and bonus eligibility.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
  • Remote-first flexibility with required in-person participation throughout the year.
  • Company-wide and team offsites held multiple times annually.
