Description

  • Define and drive the technical vision and engineering strategy for Financial Services & Loyalty systems.
  • Architect and build mission-critical financial systems such as card processing and loan repayment flows.
  • Ensure systems are high-throughput, low-latency, scalable, and reliable.
  • Own funds flow, reconciliation, and invariant design for financial products.
  • Drive architectural cohesion across a diverse product suite and multi-quarter initiatives.
  • Advocate for developer productivity through tooling improvements and AI adoption.
  • Mentor and coach engineers to support growth and technical excellence.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leaders on long-term strategy and execution.
  • Lead reusable platform development for adoption across Coinbase.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience in large-scale distributed systems.
  • Deep expertise in payments or traditional finance.
  • Experience architecting and building high-throughput, low-latency financial systems handling $500M in monthly processing volume.
  • Strong understanding of funds flow, reconciliation, and invariants.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-organizational initiatives and drive architectural cohesion.
  • Strong mentoring skills and a passion for leveling up teammates.
  • Experience working on consumer products with a strong focus on design and UX.
  • Experience with Go or other performant backend languages is preferred.
  • Familiarity with vendor integrations such as Cardless and Morpho is preferred.
  • Experience in regulated environments is preferred.
  • Crypto-forward experience, such as on-chain activity or blockchain payment journeys, is preferred.

  • Target annual base salary range of $253,895 to $298,700 USD, depending on work location.
  • Total compensation may include equity eligibility.
