Description

  • Design, build, and operate foundational data services across storage, orchestration, batch processing, streaming, query federation, caching, and real-time aggregation.
  • Build and maintain data integration and processing SDKs for internal services and product teams.
  • Design and develop self-service applications that help users manage and troubleshoot their own data pipelines.
  • Build services for end-to-end data security and observability, including access controls, data quality tracking, dataset cataloging, lineage, and usage auditing.
  • Translate functional requests from data analysts, ML, and security and compliance teams into reusable, scalable data patterns.
  • Assemble data microservices into broader data platforms for critical business verticals and user cohorts.
  • Support the full spectrum of the team’s systems, from foundational processing and storage to internal applications and frameworks.
  • Collaborate with teams across Coinbase to make data easily and efficiently available for downstream use cases.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • Strong backend development skills in Python, Go, or Java.
  • General experience working with data systems or data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with design patterns such as scale-out, caching, key/value, and columnar architectures.
  • Ability to use SQL, Python, Airflow, and BI tools to analyze data for operational insights.
  • Experience responsibly using generative AI tools and copilots in daily workflows, with a human-in-the-loop approach.
  • Willingness to keep learning as AI tools evolve and apply them to improve efficiency, cost, and quality.
  • Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps, or blockchain-based services, is preferred.
