Description

  • Architect and build a robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure for ClickHouse Cloud’s data plane.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain compute, networking, and security components across a multi-cloud, multi-region architecture.
  • Build a cloud-native platform on public cloud providers and automate cloud resource management using infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Design and implement routing and traffic components to improve service reliability and scalability.
  • Design and build security components and tooling, including firewalls, PKI/certificate infrastructure, and zero-trust networking.
  • Systematically improve availability by applying industry and distributed systems best practices.
  • Improve infrastructure performance and cost efficiency through measurement and optimization.
  • Collaborate closely with ClickHouse core database and security teams to deliver the SaaS offering.
  • Lead and deliver large-scope technical projects in collaboration with cross-functional and distributed engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
  • Software development experience in Go, C/C++, Java, or another object-oriented language.
  • Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience developing cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with cloud-native edge or service-mesh technologies, preferably envoy and Istio.
  • Proven experience leading and shipping large-scope technical projects with multiple engineers.
  • Understanding of network topologies, protocols, and security principles (VPNs, firewalls, load balancers).
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices, including encryption, access controls, and compliance standards such as SOC2 and GDPR.
  • Strong production debugging and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and ability to work in a global/remote team.
  • High ownership, accountability, and a focus on efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
