Description

  • Serve as a project engineer on customer engagements (≈50%): design architecture, integrate and implement solutions, create reference architectures, size systems, and document outcomes.
  • Conduct research, benchmarking, performance and functional testing, and develop tooling and migration strategies for customer projects.
  • Provide consultative support (≈50%) for strategic customers and prospects, assisting with implementation, onboarding, production launches, and Proofs of Concept (POCs).
  • Provide hands-on architectural, technical, and migration assistance for customer environments and support escalations.
  • Handle Support L1–L3 cases and customer communications when not assigned to larger projects.
  • Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Sales to inform product roadmap and account plans.
  • Develop and maintain public and internal content including documentation, knowledge base articles, training materials, reference architectures, blogs, and benchmark results.
  • Assist with hiring, mentoring, and onboarding new team members to grow and scale the team.
  • Participate in on-call and global scheduling to deliver 24x7 support and travel to customer sites as needed (up to ~35% estimated onsite regional travel).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Professional Services, Support, Technical Account Management, Engineering/SRE, and/or Project Management roles.
  • 5+ years of industry experience implementing, operating, and/or supporting scalable, fault-tolerant distributed database management systems (DBMS).
  • Proven experience leading and shipping large-scope technical projects in collaboration with multiple engineers.
  • Technical breadth in DBMS/OLAP, distributed systems software engineering, Cloud/SaaS platforms, Linux/Unix, Kubernetes, system or network administration, and big data.
  • Expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and their IaaS offerings (e.g., EC2).
  • Experience in customer-facing roles with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across Support, Engineering, and Sales teams.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and up to ~35% regional onsite travel.
  • Nice to have: hands-on experience with ClickHouse and open-source/community involvement.
  • Nice to have: experience with data pipelines and streaming/batch tools such as Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, RabbitMQ, or similar.
