Description

  • Analyze and optimize the performance of the core ClickHouse database.
  • Work on query optimization, distributed query optimization, relational operators, caching, and low-level SIMD optimizations.
  • Extend existing and create new performance tests using real-world or synthetic datasets.
  • Support the Support Engineering team by debugging advanced customer performance issues.
  • Collaborate with other core engineering teams to assess performance impact from new features.
  • Provide performance tests and guidance to colleagues across engineering.
  • Work with the open-source community by resolving issues, reviewing and finishing pull requests, and answering questions across community channels.

Requirements

  • Solid professional software development experience in C++.
  • Experience with Unix systems.
  • Strong knowledge of database internals and design.
  • Experience in performance engineering, ideally in a database or adjacent areas such as high-frequency trading, simulation, or real-time data processing.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well across engineering teams.
  • Patience and attention to detail when participating in code reviews and collaborating with open-source contributors.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and solid production debugging skills.
  • Passion for efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance.
  • High level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability.
  • Experience with ClickHouse is a plus.
  • Experience in security, privacy, and compliance is a plus.
  • Experience with TCP/IP and network programming is a plus.
  • Experience developing cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes, is a plus.
  • Experience giving public talks at technical conferences and meetups is a plus.
  • Previous contributions to open source projects are a plus.
