Description

  • Own the ATO package lifecycle and all associated authorization documentation, including SSPs, control statements, POA&Ms, boundary agreements, and interconnection agreements.
  • Manage continuous monitoring reporting, POA&M tracking, and supply-chain/SBOM documentation.
  • Draft, update, and maintain system boundary mappings, site addendums, delta-SSPs, inheritance packages, and ISAs.
  • Author and review system security policies, SOPs, and Rules of Behavior.
  • Translate NIST 800-53 controls into prioritized backlog requirements and evidence expectations for engineering teams.
  • Coordinate with engineers on security changes requiring technical implementation.
  • Develop a pragmatic plan to transition manual Day-1 controls into automation over time.
  • Ensure compliance packages and system security files remain accurate, complete, and aligned to the live system state.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience guiding information systems through NIST SP 800-37 RMF, DoDI 8510.01, or JSIG lifecycles to government authorization.
  • Proven ability to author clear security policies, SOPs, control statements, and system configuration narratives.
  • Expertise managing ATO packages in federal governance tools such as eMASS or XACTA.
  • Experience partnering with software developers, cloud engineers, or SREs in cross-functional environments.
  • Strong conceptual understanding of AWS/Azure cloud environments and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to read architecture diagrams and discuss security requirements intelligently with engineers.
  • Active industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSP.
  • Experience working in sprint-based engineering environments with living security documentation.
  • Ability to translate compliance language into actionable tasks and technical architectures into risk language.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with automated governance tools or GitOps-driven compliance engines.
  • Preferred: experience working directly with Authorizing Officials on continuous authorization for dynamic or ephemeral cloud infrastructures.
