Description

Own the full design process from user flows and wireframes to high-fidelity screens, interactive prototypes, and dev handoff.
Design AI-assisted experiences that translate complex capabilities into clear, trustworthy interactions.
Use a Figma and Claude-based workflow to generate, iterate on, and prototype production-ready UX/UI.
Design for local municipal government staff and public applicant personas across complex, multi-role workflows.
Ensure all touchpoints are accessible, consistent, and usable in real-world environments.
Lead and participate in user research, including interviews, usability testing, and synthesis.
Partner with Product to validate concepts early and reduce delivery risk.
Contribute to and extend the shared design system in collaboration with engineering.
Work closely with Product, Engineering, and GTM teams to move work from idea to shipped.
Present design work clearly to technical, non-technical, and senior leadership audiences.

Requirements

4+ years of product design experience with a portfolio showing strong UX thinking and visual execution.
Comfort designing products where AI is part of the experience.
Hands-on experience with Claude or similar LLMs as a design partner.
Proficiency in Figma and Claude Design, including component libraries and prototyping.
Strong end-to-end design skills across information architecture, flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI for web applications.
Experience leading or contributing to user research and usability testing.
Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to take feedback constructively.
Self-directed, accountable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Comfortable working in a remote-first environment.
Preferred: experience designing enterprise or government-facing SaaS products.
Preferred: experience with complex, multi-persona, workflow-heavy applications such as case management, permitting, or licensing.
Preferred: familiarity with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1+ and inclusive design practices.
Preferred: familiarity with agentic development frameworks.

Benefits

Contract role through December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension.
Hourly budget of $70-$100/hour based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
