Description

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for partner external audits and manage the end-to-end audit process.
  • Manage the partner audits inbox, triage communications, and coordinate calls and emails with partners and audit firms.
  • Facilitate external auditor searches, including contracting and payment when needed.
  • Review draft and final audit reports, provide feedback, and close out audits with the Program Finance team.
  • Maintain audit logs and trackers, including updating findings and current audit statuses.
  • Complete compliance evaluations for active partnerships and store documentation for each grant cycle.
  • Monitor partner submission deadlines, follow up on missing or incomplete documents, and keep the compliance tracker updated.
  • Coordinate misconduct case intake, documentation, analysis, and progression through the full case lifecycle.
  • Draft risk assessments, action plans, case reports, partner correspondence, and internal updates for review and approval.
  • Support final documentation of investigation outcomes, recovery actions, and ongoing remediation tracking.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in grants management, financial analysis, audit, and compliance, ideally in a foundation, NGO, or international development setting.
  • Proven experience reviewing compliance documentation and recommending appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Experience managing or supporting audit processes, including tracking findings and ensuring timely corrective action follow-up.
  • Experience supporting misconduct or fraud-related processes from a financial perspective, including documentation review, risk analysis, and recovery tracking.
  • Strong foundation in financial accounting, including the ability to interpret financial statements, ledgers, and audit trails.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or a comparable grants management or CRM system for data entry, record management, and reporting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Experience working cross-culturally and communicating effectively across diverse partner contexts.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
  • Ability to work on US and African time zones, maintain a solid internet connection, and use a computer with video capability.
  • Prior experience working with partners or grantees in Africa and Asia is preferred.
  • Professional background in accounting, audit, risk management, or compliance, such as CPA, CIA, or an equivalent qualification, is preferred.
  • Experience with fiduciary risk frameworks or partner capacity assessment in an international development context is preferred.

  • Remote work with priority for applicants based in Kenya or elsewhere in Africa, while remaining open to global applicants.
  • Flexible part-time commitment averaging 16 hours per week, with hours that can vary by week.
  • Opportunity to work on a flexible monthly timesheet basis tied to invoicing.
  • Compensation of $40 to $52 per hour, commensurate with experience.
  • Potential to work on meaningful grant oversight across audits, compliance, and misconduct case management.
