Description

  • Design, build, and evolve customer-facing backend services and public APIs used across multiple Chainguard products and customer segments.
  • Own features end-to-end from design through implementation, rollout, and iteration in partnership with Product Management and the Experience team.
  • Create technical design documents and drive design plans with clarity and confidence.
  • Contribute to a product-driven roadmap by prioritizing tradeoffs and shipping iteratively against real deadlines and outcomes.
  • Partner closely with Product and front-end engineers to deliver features customers rely on every day.
  • Build services with attention to quality, reliability, observability, and production resilience.
  • Work across multiple product lines and shared platform capabilities rather than owning a single narrow service.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production services and APIs in a modern cloud environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Go (Golang), or the ability and readiness to ramp up quickly.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and evolving public APIs used externally and internally across multiple products or services.
  • Real-world knowledge of API versioning, backwards compatibility, authentication, and usability.
  • Familiarity with microservices and cloud-native architectures, including containers and Kubernetes.
  • Experience building services that are observable and resilient in production.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with PMs, designers, and engineers.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote, startup environment with ambiguity, self-direction, and a fast-paced shipping culture.
  • Prior experience building platform or shared services spanning multiple products or customer experiences (preferred).
  • Experience in the cloud-native, containers, or security ecosystem, including broader CNCF tools (preferred).
  • Meaningful open source contributions, especially as a maintainer or regular contributor (preferred).
