Description

  • Develop and deliver educational programs, online resources, and training sessions for cancer registrars and data specialists.
  • Create training materials that reflect current cancer data standards and reporting protocols.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on national and state cancer data standards and reporting requirements.
  • Help ensure consistent application of cancer case abstraction protocols and reporting standards across Massachusetts.
  • Contribute to quality assurance efforts, including data audits and review of cancer registry data quality.
  • Provide feedback on training initiatives and help evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Stay current on federal and national cancer data standards, regulatory updates, and program changes.
  • Respond to changing program priorities while maintaining discretion with confidential information.

Requirements

  • Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) Certification is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience abstracting cancer case records is required; 4-5 years is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the SEER*DMS data system is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and cancer registry procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations.
  • Ability to travel to Boston 1-2 times per year for on-site work.
  • Experience supporting cancer registry training or quality assurance efforts is beneficial.

Benefits

  • Salary of $80,000-$92,000 annually, based on experience.
  • Remote work arrangement with travel to Boston only 1-2 times per year.
  • Full-time position with a 37.5-hour work week.
  • Position end date of 6/30/2026.
  • Smoke-free workplace.
  • Relocation expenses are not included.
