Description

  • Build and operate streaming, polling, and batch ingestion pipelines with provider-specific retry, rate-limiting, and backpressure behavior.
  • Own the normalization layer for canonical vehicle, driver, HOS, and fuel data models.
  • Design storage and query patterns for high-volume time-series data supporting both real-time APIs and analytics.
  • Develop customer-facing products including stop and geofence detection, ETAs, location aggregates, and IFTA-grade mileage.
  • Build write-back workflows for fuel transactions, DVIR status, and dispatch data with idempotency and loop protection.
  • Monitor data freshness, completeness, provider health, and schema drift.
  • Own end-to-end data quality and prevent silently incorrect data from reaching customers.
  • Collaborate directly with customer engineering teams and support product and API direction.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience building production data pipelines or backend data services.
  • Strong Python and experience owning services end to end.
  • Strong SQL and relational data modeling, including partitioning, indexing, and query-cost analysis.
  • Experience with streaming or event-driven ingestion and unreliable third-party APIs.
  • Cloud-native experience on AWS, including technologies such as S3, Lambda, and Kinesis.
  • Experience debugging incorrect pipeline output and implementing preventive data-quality controls.
  • Clear written communication for a remote, asynchronous work environment.
  • Experience with Python, PostgreSQL or AWS Aurora, Snowflake, REST APIs, webhooks, GitHub Actions, and TypeScript is relevant to the role.
  • Experience with telematics, IoT, logistics, fintech, insurance data, time-series or geospatial systems, multi-tenant data sharing, many third-party APIs, or SOC 2 environments is preferred.
  • Must be located in the US; sponsorship is unavailable, and occasional team or customer-site travel is required.
