Description

  • Review flagged abnormal, urgent, and critical lab results from the pre-screening program and prepare them for patient communication.
  • Contact patients to discuss lab outcomes, communicate results within RN scope of practice, and do so clearly and compassionately.
  • Educate patients on the significance of their results and any necessary next steps in care.
  • Prioritize and triage patient outreach based on clinical urgency and significance.
  • Document patient communications, concerns, results, and follow-up actions accurately in progress notes and records.
  • Escalate questions or issues outside RN scope to on-call licensed providers and coordinate completion of result delivery.
  • Handle lab-related escalations from the Member Services team, including clarifications, discrepancies, and additional test requests.
  • Work with the Clinical Conduct Team to investigate and resolve duplicate or concerning lab findings as directed by the Medical Director.
  • Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, licensure requirements, and legal/ethical standards in all communications.
  • Assist in training and educating the Member Services team to improve patient interactions and service quality.

Requirements

  • Active RN licensure with compact licensure required and all licenses kept in good standing.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain additional state licenses as needed; non-compact state license preferred.
  • BSN or equivalent degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a working nurse, in clinical research, medical communications, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or other EMR systems for documenting patient interactions.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply critical thinking to lab result review and triage.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical information to non-medical patients.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple patients efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a larger clinical team.
  • Commitment to compliance with healthcare regulations, clinical standards, and regulatory signature requirements.

  • Expected pay range of $70,000 to $100,000 USD per year for full-time team members.
