Description

  • Own the design, implementation, and expansion of WAL-based replication systems that move database changes through Kinesis to Snowflake and Redshift.
  • Architect and implement change data capture infrastructure for cross-platform data synchronization and real-time workflows.
  • Develop reusable Kinesis and SNS consumer patterns and shared libraries for use across multiple teams.
  • Partner directly with product teams to design and deliver real-time data processing solutions for business needs.
  • Implement exactly-once processing semantics, dead letter queues, retry strategies, and monitoring to protect data reliability.
  • Build monitoring, alerting, and dashboards for streaming pipelines using the LGTM stack.
  • Provide technical leadership through mentoring, design reviews, and cross-functional planning.
  • Make architectural decisions for scalable streaming systems based on distributed systems experience.
  • Support adherence to the Capital Rx Code of Conduct and report noncompliance when needed.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated progression into technical leadership roles.
  • 3+ years of experience leading technical initiatives, architecting distributed systems, or serving as a subject matter expert on streaming infrastructure.
  • Strong expertise in Python, including Flask and SQLAlchemy, for production applications.
  • Deep PostgreSQL knowledge, including write-ahead logs, replication, logical decoding, and change data capture.
  • Proven experience building and operating high-throughput streaming systems with Kinesis, Kafka, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of ordering guarantees, exactly-once semantics, partition strategies, backpressure handling, and fault tolerance patterns.
  • Production experience with AWS services including Kinesis, S3, SNS/SQS, Lambda, ECS, and data pipeline orchestration.
  • Experience loading data into Redshift, Snowflake, or similar analytical databases.
  • Ability to design resilient, observable streaming architectures that balance throughput, latency, and reliability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.
  • Rust development experience or strong interest in learning Rust for high-performance systems (preferred).
  • Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, or similar observability tools (preferred).
  • Background designing event sourcing, CQRS, or other event-driven architectures (preferred).
  • Previous PBM or healthcare technology experience (preferred).
