Description

  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customers experiencing payment problems.
  • Answer technical API questions involving failed webhooks, error codes, and unexpected payment statuses.
  • Trace payments across APIs, internal systems, ledgers, partner banks, payment rails, and blockchains.
  • Distinguish expected behavior from software defects and escalate confirmed bugs with clear evidence.
  • Coordinate with partner banks and providers on investigations, returns, and recalls.
  • Support compliance requests involving specific payments.
  • Record issue root causes and identify recurring problems for permanent fixes.
  • Review new payment rails and corridors from an operational perspective before launch.
  • Write runbooks, SQL queries, scripts, and automation to reduce repetitive manual work.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical, customer-facing role at a fintech, payments company, bank, or API-first business.
  • Understanding of payment statuses, settlement, cutoffs, finality, returns, and recalls.
  • Ability to read JSON API requests, logs, and webhooks.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and scripting in Python or a similar language.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools for scripting, investigation, or documentation, with the ability to validate their output.
  • Methodical, hypothesis-driven approach to technical investigations.
  • Clear and calm communication with customers, banks, and engineers.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-moving, ambiguous remote startup environment.
  • Professional English and authorization to work in the country of residence; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
  • Experience with Fedwire, ACH, SPEI, SEPA, CNAPS, ISO 20022, stablecoins, crypto wallets, block explorers, partner-bank investigations, or double-entry reconciliation is preferred.
