Description

  • Partner with the Director of Engineering in the Growth group to deliver product improvements for the scheduling experience.
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and onboard engineering team members.
  • Hire engineers for new and existing squads and provide oversight for hired team members.
  • Ensure the career development, satisfaction, and productivity of engineers on the team.
  • Identify future technical needs and create plans to address them.
  • Research problems independently and help uncover solutions when requirements are ambiguous.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams to build simpler and more powerful user experiences.
  • Plan and lead development efforts for large projects.
  • Drive initiatives that improve activation, retention, onboarding, and monetization.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to business-critical alerts outside regular hours.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing a team of software engineers.
  • 10+ years of overall development experience.
  • Ruby on Rails experience preferred; Python, Go, and PHP are also accepted.
  • Prior experience leading software development teams focused on product growth, including activation, retention, onboarding, and monetization.
  • Deep proficiency with web application development and SaaS.
  • Experience planning and leading development efforts on large projects.
  • Experience leading and mentoring teams toward big goals with consistent execution.
  • Experience working in a service-oriented architecture; monolith-to-services migration experience is a bonus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain deep technical concepts succinctly.
  • Experience leading Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
  • Experience working within a balanced engineering and product team.
  • Experience with MVC frameworks for backend development.
  • Availability to participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the United States, as Calendly does not provide immigration sponsorship at this time.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary of $232,626-$281,888 for Tier 1, $213,241-$258,398 for Tier 2, or $193,855-$234,907 for Tier 3, depending on location.
  • Eligibility for the Top Performer Bonus program (or Sales incentive) for full-time employees working 30 hours per week.
