Description

  • Design scalable, maintainable systems and make high-level technical decisions that balance short-term needs with long-term goals.
  • Write, review, and maintain production-grade code while championing coding standards and system performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across environments and monitor, analyze, and optimize application performance.
  • Lead projects from planning through deployment and guide junior and mid-level engineers through mentorship and code reviews.
  • Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver cross-functional solutions.
  • Take ownership of features from conception to production, including breaking down complex problems and managing risks.
  • Ensure high availability, security, and reliability across delivered systems and features.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, lead refactoring efforts, and reduce technical debt.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, remote-first engineering culture focused on continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Requirements

  • 3-6+ years building production web applications.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL or a similar modern stack.
  • Experience with Hotwire (Turbo/Stimulus) is a plus.
  • Experience with TypeScript or React is a plus.
  • Proven track record leading projects or small teams.
  • Experience mentoring engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Strong fundamentals in system design, architecture, and scalable solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product and design teams.
  • Strong grasp of performance optimization, containerization with Docker/Kubernetes, and modern development practices.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Background check, employment verification, and references are required for the selected candidate.
