Description

  • Own Shopify theme and storefront projects from brief through launch across multiple client engagements.
  • Build and maintain Liquid sections, templates, snippets, JSON templates, and scalable theme architecture.
  • Implement Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, and modern Shopify app surfaces.
  • Build or extend custom Shopify apps using Node, Remix, or similar technologies.
  • Collaborate with PMs, designers, founders, and merchants on scope, performance, SEO, analytics, and launch risks.
  • Use AI coding tools to accelerate development while reviewing all generated output before production release.
  • Identify technical risks, Shopify constraints, and unworkable scopes early.
  • Provide clear handoff notes, environment setup, and repository hygiene for future developers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience shipping production Shopify themes and/or apps, with a portfolio or store list showing real launches.
  • Agency, consultancy, or other client-facing experience preferred, including explaining trade-offs to founders or merchants.
  • Strong Liquid and Shopify theme expertise, including sections, snippets, JSON templates, metafields, and theme architecture.
  • Experience with Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, or current Shopify app development using Remix, Node, or similar.
  • Hydrogen or headless Shopify experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of performance, accessibility, responsive storefronts, and careful production deployments.
  • Experience using Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar AI coding tools with the ability to review and correct generated code.
  • C1-level or higher English communication skills for client calls and written updates.
  • Availability for overlap with US working hours through approximately 5 PM EST.
  • Strong ownership habits, including honest estimates, early blocker communication, and completed commits.
