Description

  • Provide technical support to working groups across areas such as renewable energy, carbon trading, forest monitoring, natural resource management, blockchain technology, and artificial intelligence.
  • Support end-to-end technical projects, from domain understanding through to data-driven delivery.
  • Conduct independent research and analysis to produce insights for BCI projects and stakeholders.
  • Generate opportunities for strategic partnerships and support relationship-building with external stakeholders.
  • Attend conferences and events to promote BCI and its mission.
  • Communicate research findings and insights through presentations and PowerPoint decks.
  • Collaborate with other BCI roles on technical initiatives involving data technologies and emerging technologies.
  • Support projects in a specific technical area such as Data Science, DevOps, Full Stack Development, or Data Engineering.

Requirements

  • This is an unpaid volunteer role.
  • Home-based location.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance competing demands under pressure.
  • Strong technical, math, and coding skills with close attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java/C#, JavaScript, R, Scala, or Go.
  • Interest in climate change, climate finance, blockchain technology, and artificial intelligence is preferred.
  • A relevant degree or training in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Experience in software development or other technical aspects of data-driven systems.
  • Proven ability to work on computing or math-related tasks in Agile technology projects.
  • Experience building constructive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, using own initiative to drive projects forward.
  • Experience designing, planning, and facilitating independent research and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Aptitude in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is desirable.
  • A portfolio of supported open source GitHub projects is desirable.
