Description

  • Provide expert legal guidance on U.S. crypto and financial regulations, including AML, sanctions, securities laws, commodities laws, and related frameworks.
  • Oversee regulatory litigation matters and manage relationships with U.S. government agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead the company’s response to regulatory investigations, enforcement actions, and compliance reviews, especially those involving AML and sanctions programs.
  • Serve as the primary legal liaison for U.S. regulatory agencies and maintain effective communication and collaboration.
  • Advise cross-functional teams on legal obligations and support coordinated compliance efforts.
  • Partner with compliance, risk, and business stakeholders on complex and sensitive legal and regulatory issues in the U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Monitor evolving U.S. regulatory developments affecting crypto and financial services and advise on risks and compliance strategies.
  • Support regulatory filings, investigations, and enforcement matters as needed.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in at least one U.S. state.
  • 10+ years of experience at a reputable global law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Demonstrated expertise in litigation and contentious regulatory matters.
  • Experience with U.S. financial regulators such as FinCEN, SEC, CFTC, OFAC, and state regulators is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. AML and sanctions compliance programs.
  • Practical experience supporting or advising on AML and sanctions frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. financial products, including spot trading, margin trading, futures, and options, especially in the crypto industry.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to complex legal issues.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • In-house legal experience is a plus.
